USS HOUSTON CA 30
“The galloping Ghost of the Java Coast”
Marvin
A Wynn
During the war my
Grandparents clipped a local newspaper story about S1c Marvin A. Wynn who was a
POW from the Houston. I compared the
clipping and your list from the Lost Battalion and found that they had his name
wrong, Winn, Marvin R. He died on the railroad at 100 kilo camp and is
now buried in Plot B Row 0 Grave 1237 in Punchbowl Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii. He shows up on
the ABMC website and the VA website. I will mail you a copy of the
article and his picture from the newspaper tomorrow. He was from Ft
Stockton, Texas. His family received his POW card December 28, 1943 and
maintained hope for his return until the end of the war. Sadly when they
received the card he had been dead for 2 months.
